Mumford & SonsSpring Valley, CA -- Deering Banjo Company is delighted to announce that they are teaming up with Mumford & Sons once again on their highly anticipated Gentlemen of the Road Stopover shows this summer 2015. Deering will be at each of the Stopovers with a selection of banjos for you to try, as well as enthusiastic Deering expert staff offering free banjo lessons, songs and a welcoming smile!

Contrary to recent reports, banjo remains alive and well in the Mumford camp and Winston’s beloved Deering Eagle II banjos have been amped up for their upcoming tour with the addition of a very classy black Deering banjo heads and a nickel plated Kavanjo banjo pickups.

In 2012 Mumford & Sons began the Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers, a global series of events in small cities and towns around the world. The vision was to create a music festival that celebrates local people, food, and culture, where everyone pitches in and everybody gets something back. Mumford & Sons are no strangers to thinking way outside of the box when it comes to touring and giving back to their fans. As they so eloquently put it…

A Stopover is a celebration of a real place, with real people. It’s a bridge between the culture of a music festival and actual culture as lived by real-life people. We bring the music, everything else belongs to the town.

“A Stopover is a celebration of a real place, with real people. It’s a bridge between the culture of a music festival and actual culture as lived by real-life people. We bring the music, the stage, the flags and the fans; everything else belongs to the town. Their energy and enthusiasm, their civic pride…their favorite local beer. We’ve found it to be a beautiful thing – maybe the most beautiful thing that we do. We promise you’ll get more back than you can possibly imagine.”

It is in this spirit that Deering Banjos was inspired to create something truly special, five one of a kind Gentlemen of the Road Banjos – one for each Stopover – signed by all four members of the band! These banjos will be auctioned off with proceeds going to a charity that best compliments each Stopover location. Find out more and place a bid here.

The charity chosen by collaboration between Deering, Mumford & Sons and the town of Seaside Heights is Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ocean County. Their vision statement says it all: “That all children achieve success in life”.
