Deering BanjosSpring Valley, CA -- September 25th, 2012 - The Deering Banjo Company is the world leader in the banjo market, and their global dealer network is experiencing an increased demand from their customers for quality American-made Deering banjos. For much of the companies 38 year history, demand has been limited to a specific niche of player but Deering now finds itself in uncharted territory as it maps out plans to increase production enough to keep pace with this sudden increase in banjo popularity. But what has led to this sudden demand? Co-founder and CEO Janet Deering suggests that quality and patriotism have played a key role. “Our customers want to buy quality instruments that will not only be a joy to play for generations, but that actually contribute to the economy and the well being of this nation. They know that they will get a far superior instrument in a Deering. The fact that it is also built by an American workforce, right here in California adds a quality that few others can compete with. This is something that really strikes a chord with us and our customers”.

Each Deering banjo is created by a seasoned group of American-based craftsmen who offer the musical instrument market an astonishing 296 years of dedicated banjo experience. In the last six months alone, Deering has increased its production workforce by 30% and is currently searching for additional skilled American-based labor with a broad variety of talent and skills. “Over the years, we have surrounded ourselves with loyal and passionate employees who care as much about the quality of the individual parts they make as our customers do about the banjo they receive," shares Janet Deering. "This is something that has helped Deering earn its undisputed reputation for quality.”

Tools to make banjos are generally not available “off the rack”, so many tools have to be designed developed in house. To that end, Deering has already begun fabricating a series of new tooling equipment to aid in creating a more efficient production flow for a more timely delivery. Their most recent addition to the floor is a custom built saw that precisely cuts the Deering Patented Twenty-Ten Tone Ring, doubling production of this vital tonal element of the banjo.

Production Manager David Moore comments, “We are trying to meet the balance of maximum efficiency and maximum output per square foot without jeopardising the quality of the instruments whatsoever and we are doing it very well. We are extremely happy with the results so far and will continue to build with this at the forefront of our operation."

It is truly exciting times at the Deering Banjo Company. Deering banjos are popping up in all walks of life with more and more prominent artists taking the instrument outside of its comfort zone to create new sounds and attracting a new type of audience. Orders placed have seen over a 108% rise for the same period a year prior, filling up 2013 and stretching into the beginning of 2014. Deering is proud to be contributing to the American economy by producing a high demand, high quality product right here in America. Deering it seems, is helping to create much more than just music.

Deering Banjo Company was founded in 1975 and has grown to become the largest manufacturer of American made banjos in the world. Deering is located in Spring Valley, CA and produces quality 4-string, 5-string, 6-string, and 12-string banjos. Deering is proud to have artists such as Bela Fleck, Mumford & Sons, Steve Martin, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, the Avett Brothers, and Dropkick Murphys play their banjos.
